Star Trek and the Near (Middle) East are and have been the two most important influences and passions during this life experience.
The Conflict and situation in Palestine/Israel takes a large chuck of my interest.
Many years ago, while i grew up on a ranch on the Outskirts of town, i was fortunate enough to receive at least 2 television channels and “UPN” Aired Star trek Voyager. We were unable to receive the Fox network so DeepSpace Nine (DS9) and TNG -reruns- were un-available to me (at first) :-( but voyager was part of the same time line and universe so we love it for that :-)
Anyway, during the Second Season of Voyager (1996) then, Prince Abdullah II of Jordan made a Cameo / Guest star Appearance. lasting only a matter of Seconds he appears as a science officer.
a non speaking role because he was not a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Even though he can Speak perfect and Articulate English.
Besides being a professed fan of Star trek, now King Abdullah of Jordan Married a Palestinian Women in a region of the world where Palestinians have been cast aside, neglected, abused and occasionally forgotten.
i have no idea how Queen Rania feels about Star trek, but i would love to hear… post me up if you know.
so point point is, King Abdullah certainly has something going for him, not just his possible direct Hashemite descendancy from the prophet Mohammed, and his Palestinian wife, but he is a Star trek Fan. So he must be cool.
